Bootcamp
Why does this military reference to a 45 minute workout class jazz me up so much? I am a devoted Barry’s Bootcamp student September to June and a devoted Nantucket Cycling and Fitness Outdoor Bootcamp student July/August. What are the essential elements of these classes that attract me and all age groups, genders and varying levels of fitness? Firstly, the feeling of belonging to a community is very special. I love seeing the same faces, meeting new ones and having a relationship with the instructors. Secondly, the variety of workouts is appealing. You know you’ll get strength and cardio in a HIIT format, but the “choreography” is always different - box jumps, kettle ball swings, sled pushes, ball slams - what will it be today? Finally, the effectiveness and efficiency of bootcamp workouts keep us coming back. At session’s end, every major muscle group is worked, your heart rate is elevated and you feel like a bad ass soldier for making it through yet another bootcamp.
