I Need a Goal
It had been over 20 years since I entered a race/fun run and I decided it was time to set a goal. Frankly, it was scary to make a commitment (especially a physical one) to attempt to achieve something that was beyond my comfort zone. But that is EXACTLY why it’s important to set the intention and make the attempt. By entering the Boston 10K for Women race on October 11th, I changed my mindset and running routine by adding a longer run each week leading up to the race. While 3.5 - 4 miles had been my typical distance, I got up to 5, then 5.2 and finally 6.4 miles to prepare my mind/body. Regardless of how I feel on the day of the race, I know I can do it. I had forgotten the simple lesson that setting a personal goal = growth. Now, the question is “what’s next?”
