I am applauding our old friends, Jill and David (Mitch and David have known each other since they were 5), who feel like family– there for milestones and challenging times alike . At this lovely life stage we are travel buddies: going to Chile in 2024, and more recently journeying to Japan together 6 weeks ago.  Japan is a hot destination these days and now I really know why.  The cultural independence of Japan and unique societal norms truly expose the tourist to a country that is less influenced by the outside world.  In 10 days, we covered a lot - the fish market auction, teamLab Planets, major temples/ shrines/palaces/gardens, Hakone’s nature, onsens and out-door art museum, multi-course dinners from Michelin star French to omakase to food market nibbling.  The art island of Naoshima was a highlight as was the bullet train and impeccable cleanliness of the cities. Bonus: the strength of the US dollar combined with cool Japanese fashion made shopping super fun.  Arigato Jill and David for this unforgettable shared experience!
