Tell Me About Your Last 45 Years…

It had been 45 years since I had seen Julie and Diane. We were bunk mates every summer for 8 weeks at Camp Chateaugay and had shared countless formative experiences growing into teenagers together in the 70’s. Out of the blue, I heard from Julie who “found me” and warmly invited me to reunite with her and other campers from our bunk. The reunion dinner with Julie and Diane was simply surreal.  At times I felt like 14-year old Jill remembering when we stole food from the camp kitchen late at night. Then there were moments when I was explaining my life resume of who I married, where I studied, how many kids I have and how I spend my time.  And finally, we connected as 61 year olds - sharing info about great massage therapists and favorite restaurants. Meaningful friendships, no matter how long ago they formed, are forever with you and my camp reunion proved just that.
