Mitch, my “boyfriend” (read: husband), and I recently streamed Jay Kelly starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler (and a cast of notable actors), and were pleasantly surprised by our emotional response to it.  Clooney plays a celebrated, A-list actor who takes stock of his life and  life-choices during a chaotic few days in Europe.  Sandler, his business manager, is both his best friend and employee, which personifies Jay’s mostly transactional relationships with everyone including his own children.  Jay Kelly’s past is cleverly recalled by him leaving the present, stepping through a doorway and landing as witness to his own life vignettes. While he is clearly proud of the career he built, he also has many regrets about how he achieved it.
