“Strangers”

I didn’t think a memoir about a marriage/messy divorce would be a page turner, but I was proven wrong!  My “3rd daughter” Carol recommended “Strangers”, by Belle Burden, and now I pass the suggestion on to you. Ms. Burden was essentially blind-sided during the Covid-19 epidemic after 20 years of marriage to her beloved husband.  One night, he simply walked out on her and their 3 children. She weaves a good tale by taking us back in time - before they met - allowing us to see how both she and former husband Henry were shaped by parents, by friends, and by life experiences. She writes matter-of-factly but with such vivid details that you are hooked from page one.  Her absolute despair is matched by her eventual self-growth, and the reader is privy to all of it.
